This is a cute teaser more than anything...Magdon is a consistently good writer that likes to experiment with gender, ethnicities, species, and erotica, often with a hint of bdsm...and she's always big on a person's personal pace and consent.
"Fur and Fangs" is a short story (35 pages) kicking off a new paranormal series involving an interracial, interspecies relationship between a werewolf and a vampire. The author skillfully delivers an awkward but mutual attraction between a young, geeky werewolf and a sophisticated, older vampire.
There's a budding romance here and an erotica element towards the end. Because it's so short, the erotic piece didn't have the delivery Magdon's other stories do but the cute story and character development is there and I want more already.
I'm curious where this will go and will happily continue to follow the series.

So I've been following this author for some time and I've gotta say that I'm never disappointed by what she puts out there, this for sure included. It's a feel good story, which is much needed and appreciated in this day and age. I would definitely like to know more about these characters and what sort of world they live in. If you like werewolves, vampires, and lesbians, then this story is for you! So check it out!!!
This short story is a great intro to the series that I'm so excited to read the rest. It is adult themed, so be warned on that. But those scenes are fantastic and vivid and exciting.
Rae is one of my favorite authors, and puts in a lot of time and effort to give LGBT people representation, and I find that I have never connected with characters like I have with hers.
If you're looking for a WLW fantasy story, you've come to the right place.

Sweet, sexy, and beautifully written, this story is yet another gem from Rae D. Magdon. In a New York filled with supernatural creatures who live and work and love among us, it's a classic romcom meet-cute between Riley, an adorkable androgynous werewolf, and Isabeau, a sexy, confident femme vampire. The chemistry between them is electric, but it's the details with which Ms. Magdon seeds the story that really make its jewel-bright colors pop. If you're a fan of lesbian romance, supernatural love stories, or even just sweet, sexy fun, give this one a read.
It is a relatively short read, but holy hell it is worth it. There is some of everything angst, smut, passion, comedy, seriousness... It's such an interesting and fun read. The representation found in this book is so important, and it's great to see it the way it is. The only thing I had a problem with was that it needlessly brought up a trans person's deadname, which isn't okay. But that is the only problem with it. I'm so glad I bought it <3
This is my first time reading anything from this author. I stumbled across it, and the cover literally sold me. It reminded me of a graphic series that I read I'm glad I pick it up. It's a paranormal lesbian romance between a wolf and a vampire and the short story moves really fast. The downside is that it also ends pretty quickly, but with a cliffhanger, leaving me wanting more. I'm waiting impatiently for the next installment to come out!
I doubt I will ever love another supernatural story as much as one that has these characters in it. Rae D Magdon has proven time and time again to have a gift for writing full, diverse characters that break all the stereotypes one could ever come to expect, and delivers a sexy, fun, and frankly just lovely story about two supernatural ladies in love.
For those of you who are like me and love your stories with mythical and supernatural folk, let me say this now (as much as I can without spoilers) Rae has provided her own unique twists to the species - not in a way which makes them seem disagreeably different - but rather in a way that lets one enjoy the classic vampires and werewolves, while still getting a few new details to break it apart from the rest of the stories with them. "Refreshingly different" is a good way to put it - these ladies more altered traits are both nostalgic and unique, in the best of ways. )
I look forward to the next stories to come in this series!
I've been following Rae's writing for awhile now and have always loved how she pushes the boundaries of sexuality, gender, tropes, and the like in her writing. Riley is a southern wolf who moves to the big apple and instantly falls for the bright and vibrant Isabeau, a vampire who possess the effortless grace and sensuality of an immortal without being broody and dark. This is a short story, can be read within an hour, but you'll find yourself quickly buying up the other copies to continue the story. Love this series so much so far and highly recommend for anyone looking for something a little supernatural, a little sexy, and just fun all around.
